IS IT IMPOSSIBLE OR IS IT JUST HARD?

"Do not assume it is impossible because you find it hard. Recognise that if it's humanly possible then you can do it too."

Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor

Very often when you find something hard to achieve, you create a series of rationalizations, justifications and explanations that whatever it is that you are attempting is impossible.

Yet, when you think about it, you are only fooling yourself. No, worse than that, you are LYING to yourself! Marcus Aurelius was correct!

If it is humanly possible, if there is another human who can do it, then it is definitely possible for you too.

So it's not impossible... it's just hard.

What are you trying to achieve that looks impossible to you? Maybe you want to create a great relationship with your teenager, or start up your own business, or take a new college course so you get a promotion in work. Seek out someone that has been successful at what you are trying to achieve. Ask them was it always easy? Did you ever feel like giving up? Did everything go wonderful all the time? You will find out that it was not 'impossible', because they were a successful at it, but it was definitely not always easy.

You see, it is hard to motivate yourself to work toward the impossible. After all, impossible means you will NEVER get it done no matter what you do.

Hard, on the other hand simply means that some level of effort is required before you get what you want. You just have to want these things bad enough in order to tolerate the work that's required to get them.

How many 'impossible' things in YOUR life are really impossible and how many are simply hard?

How to Stop Living a Boring Life

Life was never meant to be boring but instead to be exciting and fulfilling. If you feel like you are living a boring life but want to change that so you can live a life of success and happiness, I have good news for you. You can. It will take some work on your part but you can live the life of your dreams. Here are 3 keys to help you stop living a boring life.

1. Plan for fun.

It’s so easy to get caught up with work, family, and other responsibilities that you don’t have time for any fun in your life. Make it a point from now on to schedule some fun time for your self at least one hour per week. If you can schedule more, do that. The point here is to break up your routine and make time to have some fun in your life.

2. Work your passion.

There is at least one thing that you love to do that you are passionate about. This could range from teaching, photography, fishing, and so on. Whatever your passion is, start to find a way to start doing it to earn money. You will be amazed how you feel when you make your first money from doing something that you love.

3. Develop yourself.

If you never grow as a person you will rarely be able to experience new things. For every level of success you have to become a new you. As you develop yourself you will be forced to changed and take on some exciting challenges. Before you know it your life will be far from boring anymore.

Self Confidence - How To Develop An Amazing Self Confidence

The lack of self confidence can be a paralyzing thing in life. You may want to do great things in your life but because you don't believe in yourself you actually become your own worst enemy. Here are 3 keys to developing an amazing self confidence:

Self Confidence Key #1 - Start small.

To many times people try to build their self confidence by doing something big right from the start. While this may work at times it usually has a negative result. The reason being is this, if you try something huge to build your self confidence and fail that means that you failed big. This doesn't help you to believe in yourself at all. Baby steps are usually best that way when you fall it doesn't hurt as bad. When you master the baby steps start taking bigger steps.

Self Confidence Key #2 - Create a team of support.

Don't try to build your self confidence all by yourself. You need people around you that will encourage you when times get tough or when you are feeling down. Even if the team consists of you and one other person at least you know that there is someone there that will encourage you.

Self Confidence Key #3 - Don't quit.

As long as you don't quit you will develop you self confidence. It may not be as fast as you would like it to be but even small growth is better than no growth. If you quit there is no way that you can build your self confidence. Just make a decision before you ever start that no matter how hard it get's or how long it takes, you won't stop until you develop the self confidence you want and deserve.

How To Live A Life That Inspires Others

I read this great quote today that got me thinking!

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." John Quincy Adams - 6th U.S President

We often consider leadership as a position that is granted to someone who is a leader! Someone who is confident, educated, wise, a good public speaker, and passionate about what they do! Somebody in a position of authority like a teacher, boss, police man!

However, this quote suggests something different. It says that you area leader simply when you inspire those around you! How difficult is that? It's not at all!!

Today, make a conscious effort to inspire the people in your world. Inspire them to dream bigger, to dig deeper, and to never give up on their passions. Look at the people around you, the people in your circle of influence. Maybe you have co workers under you, a younger brother or sister, a friend, everyone in your world needs to be believed in. Everyone needs to feel wanted and appreciated.

Sometimes people just need someone to believe in them. Going for your dreams sounds all nice and easy, but often on your journey, you have to exit your comfort zone and enter the unknown to get them. Sometimes people just need a push and sombody close to them to say 'Go for it! I believe you can do it.'

Part of finding your own greatness is the ability to see the potential in the people around you and inspire them to go for their goals and achieve their dreams.

Make it a point to believe in somebody else today.

The Challenge To Leadership

Every organization or collection of people, from the unknown tribe in the Amazon jungle, to the ever growing Business in New York City, to the small family in the Outback of Australia requires skilled leaders. It has been said that everything rises and falls on leadership, and it is true. Every group of people fulfills its purposes and potential based on the leadership it is shown.

As a leader you are given responsibility and charge of situations, the challenge to set the vision and motivate others toward it. In every group of people, there will always be leaders. If you do not lead, someone else will. If you do not set the example for your children, someone else will. If you do not set the standard in your work place, someone else will.

As the quote goes 'All it takes for evil to prevail is for the good man to do nothing.'

If you want to be a leader who attracts quality people, the key is to become a person of quality yourself. Leadership is the ability to attract someone to the gifts, skills, and opportunities you offer as an owner, as a manger, as a parent.

People will follow you because of your skills, what you can do and because of your character, who you are. One of the important keys to leadership is refining your skills. All great leaders keep working on themselves until they become effective.

I challenge you today to make a decision to be a skillful and honourable leader in your family, your community and your workplace.

3 Keys To Avoid Burnout

This article will help you check yourself for burnout. It helps you look at the way you feel about your job and your experiences at work, so that you can get a feel for whether you might be at risk of burnout or not.

1. Too much to do in too little time.

Take a look at your lifestyle and your workload. Do you feel overworked? Are you are being too accommodating. Should you let people know that you have too much work to do? Should you be politely turning down new work that people pass you? Remember that you will have to say “no” at some stage, otherwise your commitments will get bigger and bigger. You must learn to say no to commitments that you should not take on, otherwise you will be in severe danger of becoming intensely stressed and exhausted.

Check that you are using all the resources that are available to you in your work place. You may find another employee has an intern and you are entitled to one too. You could take a time management course.

2. Avoid exhaustion.

Exhaustion is one of the main reasons people become burnt out. The importance of sleep and rest is vital if you feel you are on the verge of burning out. Going on a good long holiday is a great way to avoid burn out. Be well prepared so that you do not have to bring your lap top or mobile. Ensure it will be as relaxing as possible without the distractions or pressure of work. Forget about it all for a week and enjoy the sun. It will do you good!

3. Protect your passion for the job.

Another major factor in burn out is disillusionment with your work, especially if you are somebody that gets great satisfaction out of their job. It is important to protect the parts of your job that give you the most satisfaction. Think of the people you serve. If you burn out, they will not get the benefit of working with the enthusiasm that loving your job creates.

There is a lot of things you can do to avoid becoming burnt out. The first thing though, is to check if you are at risk, and if so, take this seriously and take action.

Are You Dissatisfied With Your Job?

Are you dissatisfied with your job? Are you looking for a New Career? Do you dream of finding a job that you love?

You can have a career that you love, the only problem is, most people are afraid to make a move. What if it's not what they hoped for? What if they end up losing their current job? What if it does not work out and they lose money? The steps below will help you if you are thinking about a change in your career.

1. Why Do You Want to Change?

The first and most important step is to discover why you want to change your job. If the problems you are trying to avoid have nothing to do with your job but involve external circumstances (such as a troublesome co-worker or disrespectful supervisor), you may be able to improve your current position and love the job you already have by bringing your issues to the attention of your superiors.

2. Do Your Homework.

Research the position you are looking into. Making a career change can be a very exciting experience, but make sure you do not dive in without properly thinking it through and researching it.

3. Get Experience.

How do you know if you are even going to enjoy the job once you have it? If possible, get experience in the field you are looking into. Talk to current employees that are doing what you want to do. If you have friends who are working in the job you are thinking of applying for, get in contact with them. Find out what they like about it. By doing this, you will have a better idea of knowing if the change you are thinking about making is the right change for you.

4. Give It Time.

Before you do anything, put the idea of changing careers in the drawer for at least a few weeks to let the initial excitement die down. This will ensure that you're not making a life-changing decision on a whim or passing phase. Best of luck!

A Better Life – The Impact That Today Has On Your Life

I don’t know where you are as you are reading this but if you want a better life, there is one thing that you must know about today. Today will either help you reach a better life or it will hinder, the choice is up to you.

Today is very important because it is a building block on which you have to build for a better life. You are using this day to help build yourself a better future or you are using this day to destroy it. The difficulty that you may have, as do most people, is to understand how significant today really is. Sir Winston Churchill once said, ‘To build may have to be the slow and laborious task of years. To destroy can be the thoughtless act of a single day.’ You see, it’s sometimes hard to see how today will affect you 5 or 10 years down the road. Building for a better life is one of persistent effort over a long period of time. Because of this, it’s easy to overlook how something that you do today can have a major impact on things in your life way down the road.

That’s why it’s so important to make sure that you don’t waste time in your life or do things without thinking. The longer you wait to do something with your life, the longer it will take for your better life to come. The same goes for things that you do that are done without much thought for the consequences that they will bring. One thing done today can cause your life to go in a totally different direction then you ever wanted it to.

So what are you doing with your day today? Hopefully you are using it to its maximum potential so that you are building solid rocks of success for your future and a better life.

5 Simple Keys To Success

If you want to succeed in life, here are 5 practical steps you can take to help you along the way.

1. Establish what 'success' is for you.
For one person 'success' may be earning $1000 a month, for another person it may be getting the executive position at the firm, for another it may be raising a successful family. Determine what 'success' is for you. Do not base it on another person's goals in life. If you do not establish what 'success' is for you, you will never know when you get there.

2. Find your passion. Find your passion, work it and you will excel. It is so much easier to stay motivated doing something you are passionate about and to reach your goals successfully while enjoying the journey.

3. Determination. Anyone that has climbed to the top of a mountain has the fabulous view all around them of the surrounding cities and landscape, but they have had to climb the mountain side. It took energy, time and dedication. I am sure there were times they wanted to turn back, but they kept going. That is what success if like. There is a fabulous view when you reach the top, but there is a journey and a process to success. Be determined not to give up until you have reached the goal that you set for your life.

4. Train yourself. If you have average skills, you efforts with bring back average results. If you are skilled in an area that you are passionate about, you will be so much more inclined to be successful at it. Take a night class if you need to brush up on skills so that you can maximise the time you are putting into reaching success.

5. Treat other people right. No one becomes successful be themselves. You are going to need people to support and encourage you. Treat the people in your world correctly. Appreciate and thank them and when you do become successful, do not confess to have reached it alone. Acknowledge the people in your world. Success is great, but if when you have all the extra cash, you have no friends or family to enjoy it with, it is just mere printed paper.

DO NOT QUIT

Do Not Quit

"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in
order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater
vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You
are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself
if you forget that errand."

- Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States

This quote is amazing. It basically says that there is a reason to you being here. You have something that this world needs and to not give it, you hurt yourself.

Everyday, in every country, among every race, people quit. They give up on life, they throw in the towel. They give up on the dreams that once pushed them to try for success. Circumstances may not make life easy, but you have something that this world needs.

You may hide from your choices, seeing them as something scary, but they
don't have to be. Practically all your daily decisions can have tremendous power to transform you and your life into
something truly spectacular. There are millions of people alive who are living dream lives...

You can be one of them, no matter how old or young you are. Make a decision today that you are not going to give up on your dreams, no matter how far away they seem or how unachievable they may be. Take a good honest look at your life, where you are, and at your dreams that you so want to see fulfilled. Begin today to make the changes you need to see your dreams come true. Take it one day at a time and do not give up.

I believe you can do it!

4 Keys to Staying Motivated

Staying motivated is easy when everything is going well, but it not always last! We have to renew it each and every day. That is okay. It does not make motivation a bad thing. You simply have to realize that if you want to stay motivated over the long term, it is something you will have to apply yourself to each and every day.

1. Have a goal for your life.
If you do not have a goal, then what are you moving toward? The root word of motivation is “motive.” The definition of motive is, “A reason to act.” This is the cognitive or rational side of motivation. It is your vision. You have to have a vision that is big enough to motivate you. Set out a vision and a strategy for getting there. Have a plan and work the plan.

2. Fuel your passion.
It is much easier to be motivated to do what you are passionate about. Set yourself on a course to have a consuming desire to reach your goals.

3. Work hard and get results. The harder you work, the more results you get, and the more results you get, the more it will motivate you to work harder! Start with a small achievable goal. Aim to lose a few pounds. When you have, it will motivate you to work toward losing more.

4. Surround yourself with motivational material.
Find good material that will motivate you toward where you want to go. Read books that teach you new ideas and skills. Read books that tell the stories of successful people. Buy them, read them, and get motivated! Buy great music and listen to it. It gets you going and motivates you!

Be Thankful

William A. Ward says "God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?"

It can be so easy sometimes to forget to express the appreciation we feel for the little day to day things that happen in our lives. Everyday we have something to be grateful for but so often we overlook these things and focus on the negative aspects of life.

I want to help you shift your focus away from negative conditions and circumstances and bring you back into the reality that all things, regardless of how perceived, assist you in your growth and bring you one step closer to your intended destination in life.

Sincere gratitude empowers you to focus on the positive aspects of life, and develops into greater awareness and appreciation of the overlooked, often misinterpreted, and ever so important little blessings that make up this experience we call life.

An attitude of gratitude can make the difference between experiencing the big blessings that life has to offer and falling short of all that is available to you.
Make a decision today that you are going to be aware of those around you and express your thankfulness.
William Arthur Ward says “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”

I encourage you today, look back over your life and pick out the people that had a positive influence on your life and assisted you in getting to where you are today. No matter how long ago it was, make an effort to find them out and say thank you. When people are grateful, I will go out of my way to assist and help them in whatever way I can. People will do the same for you if you are show gratefulness and appreciation.

Being grateful and expressing is a great habit to develop and one that will make life easier and attract people to you.

5 Keys To Getting And Keeping Volunteers

Volunteers are not paid -- not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.

I have listed below practical ways you can motivate people to volunteer and keep them volunteering in your organisation.

1. Appreciate your volunteers. Appreciate that people give up their spare time to come and volunteer. They may have put aside social activities, family time or friends to come and help. Make sure that volunteers feel appreciated. You can do this by openly honoring them, send flowers to say thank you after a large event, send them on a weekend away for a break, buy them a massage or a beauty treatment.
If volunteers do not feel appreciated for what they are doing, they will eventually spend their time and effort where they do feel appreciated.

2. Pay Volunteer's expenses. Volunteers are already donating time to their organisations. It would be wrong to expect them to end up out of pocket as well.
Payment of expenses is important from an equal opportunities point of view. People on benefits or low incomes should not be excluded because they cannot afford the cost of travel or meals out.
Not paying expenses will make it harder to recruit, as the more barriers you place in the way of volunteers the less likely they are to want to volunteer for you.

3. Create a Volunteer policy. This is not always necessary for informal groups but once groups that use volunteers start to become larger and more formal the importance of a volunteer policy increases.
A volunteer policy ensures consistency, and demonstrates a commitment to good practice. It also helps clarify exactly why volunteers are being used within an organisation, and how they will work alongside paid staff. And for volunteers, it makes clear how they can expected to be treated by the organisation.

4. Find out why. Find out why people are volunteering for a specific area and it will enable you to place them in a position doing something that they are passionate about. It is better to have people that are self motivated because they love what they are doing, then to have to always push and motivate them.

5. Delegate. If somebody volunteers for an area and they are more than capable of taking it on, give it over! You cannot micro manage everything and expect to succeed in every area, you are spreading yourself too thin. This is especially important for your organisation as it grows bigger and you find that you do not have enough time to do everything you were once doing.
Delegate what you can.

5 Ways To Keep Me Away From Your Church

Christian churches should be filled with people when the doors open, but often times they are not. I have listed below practical reasons why people do not attend church.

1. The church has no website. In todays world, people live online, shop online, communicate online. Why is the church always the last to catch up? Create a website that is up to date, easy to navigate through and well designed. Yes it will take from your pocket, but it will assist people in finding your church.

2. The church is completely inactive in the community. If your church is doing nothing in your city, you are not reaching new people. When you get active in poor estates, with the homeless or in the local prisons, people start to talk about you and what you are all about. Simple acts of kindness in your community will attract people to your church.

3. Annoying Customer Service. Many churches may not have the staff to answer phone enquiries during business hours, but the least you can do is have an answering machine! It is very frustrating for a person to call to make an enquiry about service times or events and not be able to speak to anyone or leave a message. It sounds like a very simple thing to do, but you would be amazed at how many churches do not have an answering machine.

4. There is not adequate seating or parking. There is nothing more frustrating than driving around for 20 minutes looking for a parking space which makes you late into the service and then you are not be able to find an empty seat. If you need to create another service on a Sunday morning to accommodate your members, do so. If you need to get more parking attendants, do so. Make church enjoyable for people to attend.

5. Visitors are ignored. Train volunteers in the church to make sure that new comers are looked after and feel welcome. Have 1st time visitor packs with information about what goes on in your church life and where they can get involved. Contact new members either by phone, email or letter to welcome them and let them know they have been added to your mailing list.

These are all practical things that you can start to put in place to attract people to your church.

Leadership - How To Become A Pioneering Leader

Leadership - How To Become A Pioneering Leader
by Jason Osborn

Leadership is one of the greatest responsibilities that you can have on this earth. Unfortunately, most people don't really know how to lead in a way that makes them a great leader. If you are a leader, or aspire to be a leader in some area of your life, make a decision that you are going to be a leader who makes an impact, not just a leader who tells people what do. So how do you do this?

All great leaders have gone where no one else has gone. They are the ones that go off the beaten trail and make a better one. Ralph Waldo Emerson says it like this, รข€˜Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. This is the sign of a great leader.

Great leaders blaze a trail so that countless others can follow behind them. Think of great leaders such as Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., Thomas Edison, and Oprah. All of these people have become known as great leaders because they have created knew ways of thinking and doing things. They saw that the path the world was on was not one that served the world its best.

What is on the inside of you that you know is off of the beaten path that will help those around you and possibly even the entire world? As stated at the beginning, true leadership is a great responsibility because you will be forging a way the others to follow. Decide today that you will become a great leader; one that goes where there is no path and leave a trail for the betterment of the world.
