Do I Need To Set Goals To Be Successful?

1. What is Goal Setting?
Goal setting is a process that helps you get clear on what you want, make an action plan to help you get there, launch into action, and persist until you reach your destination or find a better one.

Earl Nightingale put it this way, "People with goals succeed because they know where they are going. It's as simple as that."

2. Why Personal Goal Setting Works.

The first ingredient necessary for success is that you have to decide exactly what it is that you want. This is where many people stumble. They never decide what it is that they really want in life.

Once you have decided what it is that you want, the second ingredient is to determine the price you have to pay to get what you want, and then resolve to pay that price by establishing your priorities and getting to work. Many who get past the first ingredient never apply the second one. They don't understand that you have to pay the price in full before you can claim your prize. Goal Setting is a process that helps you focus your time and energy on your targets through careful and deliberate planning.

3. What is a Goal?
A goal is a well-defined target that gives you clarity, direction, motivation, and focus. Goals are tools that help you to make a positive change in your life. They eventually help form a new habit or change an existing habit.

Goals are the stepping stones to success. Look at your life today, decide what you want and then begin to make goals that will help you to get there.

How To Face The Fear Of The Unknown

So you are facing the unknown in your life and fear is knocking at your door. Welcome to first step in success. Everyone that has ever succeeded in life has felt the same thing. As a matter of fact, we have all felt it on more then one occasion. So how do you deal with it? Here are 3 keys to facing the fear of the unknown.

1. Do your due diligence.

Here are the basics. You are feeling fear because there is some sort of risk involved with what you are doing. Risk isn’t a bad thing if you know how to handle it. The first thing you always need to do is your due diligence. Don’t go into a situation blindly. Just because it may seem like a good deal on the outside doesn’t mean that it is. Just by knowing what you are dealing with can help you overcome fear.

2. Trust yourself.

Once you have done your due diligence so that you can make an informed decision, you have to learn to trust your instincts. If you find that the risk involved is one that you are able to handle, don’t start to doubt yourself. If you doubt yourself you will tend to make wrong decisions and choices.

3. Ask someone who knows.

You have probably heard the saying that there is nothing new under the sun. Well guess what? You aren’t the first one to face the fear of the unknown. One of the best things that you can do is ask for help from someone that has been down the same road that you are on right now. Sometimes all you need is a little advice from someone that has overcome their fear and come out the other side successfully.

You Are Only As Good As Your Word

"One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes. In the long run, we shape our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility." Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady

If I asked you for your outlook on life, I am sure like most people you would have many reasons why there is so much suffering, opinions on politics and probably millions of complaints about the state of the world today regarding violence, terror, disruptive youth, child prostitution, the list goes on....

It seems that we are all experts on life when it comes to talking about it but then, what are we actually DOING about following up on those words?

Are you talking about health yet continuing to smoke, overeat and doing little to take care of your own?

Are you talking about poverty and pointing a finger at 'big businesses' for their apparent un involvement to charities yet continuing to walk straight past the homeless man you pass everyday on the street?

Are you talking but doing little more than moving your lips?

Today I want to challenge is to carry out an assessment on yourself.

Take note of how many times today you talk about doing something versus actually taking action and doing it.

I think you will be surprised at the outcome!

Do not beat yourself up over the answer, just know that one of the keys to success is matching your words with your deeds.

A Simple Key To Find Happiness

People are different so there are some things that will make one person happy that would not make another happy at all! There is not one 10 second formula or one size fits all, that can make everyone happy today. I wish there was! Although, there are simple steps you can take to create happiness in your life.

Look at this quote by Benjamin Franklin: The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.

Before you endeavor to take the journey to becoming happy with your life, you first have to establish what happiness means to you. What do you want out of life? Would earning an extra $200 a week make you happy? Would being married make you happy? Having a family? Travelling the world? What would make you happy? If you have not yet established this, you'll be running around trying everything hoping one of these things will make you happy and it will take you along time to get anywhere.

My advice to you if you are seeking a happier life, is to take a pen and paper and write down what would make you happy. Do not think about money, time, limitations, just write. When you are done, read what you have written. Now take these things you have written and make a plan. Write a goal. Make it a 6 month goal. Do not try and do too much. Take the 3 things that you would love to do the most, and begin to plan to make them happen!

By writing it down as a goal, you have something to focus on. you are not aimlessly running around trying all different things to make you happy, but you are aiming to achieve 3 - 4 things.

Wishing you well on your pursuit of happiness.

Success - 3 Keys to Becoming the Best You Can Be

I know that you want to be the best that you can be in your life. I don’t think anyone really wants to be terrible or be a failure in life. Well there is great news. You can be the best and have a wonderful life. Of course this will take work and it won’t happen over night but since when has being the best ever happened over night? Here are 3 keys that will help you be the best that you can be.

1. Personal Development.

This seems very obvious but I am always surprised at how many people want to become great but never develop them. You have to be working on yourself to be the best. There are things in your life that need to be developed and grown. If you don’t develop yourself you will never be the best you can be.

2. Get rid of excuses.

You will have to stop making excuses why you can’t be the best if you want to be the best. If the truth be told, you have the ability to do anything you want to do. There are loads of people that have worse circumstances than you that have become great. If they can do it, so can you.

3. Learn from the best.

If you want to be the best you have to learn from the best. The best way to do this is find someone that has had a great deal of success in the area that you want to be great in and learn from them. Soak up as much information and knowledge from them that you can. By doing this you will reach your personal best much faster.

Self Confidence - How To Develop An Amazing Self Confidence

The lack of self confidence can be a paralyzing thing in life. You may want to do great things in your life but because you don't believe in yourself you actually become your own worst enemy. Here are 3 keys to developing an amazing self confidence:

Self Confidence Key #1 - Start small.

To many times people try to build their self confidence by doing something big right from the start. While this may work at times it usually has a negative result. The reason being is this, if you try something huge to build your self confidence and fail that means that you failed big. This doesn't help you to believe in yourself at all. Baby steps are usually best that way when you fall it doesn't hurt as bad. When you master the baby steps start taking bigger steps.

Self Confidence Key #2 - Create a team of support.

Don't try to build your self confidence all by yourself. You need people around you that will encourage you when times get tough or when you are feeling down. Even if the team consists of you and one other person at least you know that there is someone there that will encourage you.

Self Confidence Key #3 - Don't quit.

As long as you don't quit you will develop you self confidence. It may not be as fast as you would like it to be but even small growth is better than no growth. If you quit there is no way that you can build your self confidence. Just make a decision before you ever start that no matter how hard it get's or how long it takes, you won't stop until you develop the self confidence you want and deserve.

Success in Life - 3 Keys to Living the Life of Your Dreams

Living the life of your dreams is much more possible than you think. There are people everyday that are discovering what it takes for their dreams to become reality. You can be one of these people if you know the keys that unlock the doors to your dreams. Here are 3 of those keys that will help you live the life of your dreams.

1. Be specific.

If you just have a fantasy of what you would like you will never have it. You must be specific in the things that you want. For instance, if you want to make more money you need to be specific on how much more you want to make. Just wanted to make more money doesn’t mean anything. However, by having a specific amount in mind you are able to know what it takes to get there and set the appropriate goals to get there.

2. Improve yourself.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make in your journey to success is to think that you can achieve success just the way you are. If that was the case you would already have all the success you wanted. You have to educate yourself to new levels in order to reach new levels of success.

3. Mentorship isn’t optional.

You have to have a mentor. There are too many obstacles along the way for you to do it all alone. Mentors are an invaluable part of your success. They are able to give you insight into what is needed to get the success you are going after. Plus they will help you avoid some very painful mistakes if you will follow their advice.

Self Confidence - 3 Keys to Becoming a Person With Great Self Confidence

You have the ability to have great self confidence and do great things in your lifetime. Self confidence will help you succeed in so many areas in your life. As a matter of fact, your confidence will help you get to places that your talents alone couldn’t get you. Here are 3 keys to becoming a person with great self confidence.

1. Believe in yourself.

You have to believe in yourself. I don’t mean that you have to be arrogant or stuck up. You can still be a very humble person and believe in yourself at the same time. You have certain skills and talents that other people don’t have. You have to start believing in yourself and know that you are here to do great things.

2. Don’t make mountains out of molehills.

Whether you like it or not, there will be times in your life when you make a mistake. Guess what? Everyone makes mistakes. As long as you learn from it and allow it to make you a better person, your mistakes aren’t something to dwell on. However, if you turn your mistakes into some huge thing, you will soon start doubting yourself and before long your self confidence will start to fade. Instead, increase your self confidence by learning from your mistakes.

3. Get around other people with self confidence.

One of the best ways to increase your self confidence is to hang around people that are confident themselves. This may be intimidating at first but you sill soon find that their self confidence will start to rub off on you. You see, it hard to not become what you are always around. If you are always around insecure people you may find yourself becoming insecure. However, if you are around self confident people, you will soon find that your self confidence in increasing.

How To Live A Life That Inspires Others

I read this great quote today that got me thinking!

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." John Quincy Adams - 6th U.S President

We often consider leadership as a position that is granted to someone who is a leader! Someone who is confident, educated, wise, a good public speaker, and passionate about what they do! Somebody in a position of authority like a teacher, boss, police man!

However, this quote suggests something different. It says that you area leader simply when you inspire those around you! How difficult is that? It's not at all!!

Today, make a conscious effort to inspire the people in your world. Inspire them to dream bigger, to dig deeper, and to never give up on their passions. Look at the people around you, the people in your circle of influence. Maybe you have co workers under you, a younger brother or sister, a friend, everyone in your world needs to be believed in. Everyone needs to feel wanted and appreciated.

Sometimes people just need someone to believe in them. Going for your dreams sounds all nice and easy, but often on your journey, you have to exit your comfort zone and enter the unknown to get them. Sometimes people just need a push and sombody close to them to say 'Go for it! I believe you can do it.'

Part of finding your own greatness is the ability to see the potential in the people around you and inspire them to go for their goals and achieve their dreams.

Make it a point to believe in somebody else today.

The Challenge To Leadership

Every organization or collection of people, from the unknown tribe in the Amazon jungle, to the ever growing Business in New York City, to the small family in the Outback of Australia requires skilled leaders. It has been said that everything rises and falls on leadership, and it is true. Every group of people fulfills its purposes and potential based on the leadership it is shown.

As a leader you are given responsibility and charge of situations, the challenge to set the vision and motivate others toward it. In every group of people, there will always be leaders. If you do not lead, someone else will. If you do not set the example for your children, someone else will. If you do not set the standard in your work place, someone else will.

As the quote goes 'All it takes for evil to prevail is for the good man to do nothing.'

If you want to be a leader who attracts quality people, the key is to become a person of quality yourself. Leadership is the ability to attract someone to the gifts, skills, and opportunities you offer as an owner, as a manger, as a parent.

People will follow you because of your skills, what you can do and because of your character, who you are. One of the important keys to leadership is refining your skills. All great leaders keep working on themselves until they become effective.

I challenge you today to make a decision to be a skillful and honourable leader in your family, your community and your workplace.

3 Keys To Avoid Burnout

This article will help you check yourself for burnout. It helps you look at the way you feel about your job and your experiences at work, so that you can get a feel for whether you might be at risk of burnout or not.

1. Too much to do in too little time.

Take a look at your lifestyle and your workload. Do you feel overworked? Are you are being too accommodating. Should you let people know that you have too much work to do? Should you be politely turning down new work that people pass you? Remember that you will have to say “no” at some stage, otherwise your commitments will get bigger and bigger. You must learn to say no to commitments that you should not take on, otherwise you will be in severe danger of becoming intensely stressed and exhausted.

Check that you are using all the resources that are available to you in your work place. You may find another employee has an intern and you are entitled to one too. You could take a time management course.

2. Avoid exhaustion.

Exhaustion is one of the main reasons people become burnt out. The importance of sleep and rest is vital if you feel you are on the verge of burning out. Going on a good long holiday is a great way to avoid burn out. Be well prepared so that you do not have to bring your lap top or mobile. Ensure it will be as relaxing as possible without the distractions or pressure of work. Forget about it all for a week and enjoy the sun. It will do you good!

3. Protect your passion for the job.

Another major factor in burn out is disillusionment with your work, especially if you are somebody that gets great satisfaction out of their job. It is important to protect the parts of your job that give you the most satisfaction. Think of the people you serve. If you burn out, they will not get the benefit of working with the enthusiasm that loving your job creates.

There is a lot of things you can do to avoid becoming burnt out. The first thing though, is to check if you are at risk, and if so, take this seriously and take action.

Are You Dissatisfied With Your Job?

Are you dissatisfied with your job? Are you looking for a New Career? Do you dream of finding a job that you love?

You can have a career that you love, the only problem is, most people are afraid to make a move. What if it's not what they hoped for? What if they end up losing their current job? What if it does not work out and they lose money? The steps below will help you if you are thinking about a change in your career.

1. Why Do You Want to Change?

The first and most important step is to discover why you want to change your job. If the problems you are trying to avoid have nothing to do with your job but involve external circumstances (such as a troublesome co-worker or disrespectful supervisor), you may be able to improve your current position and love the job you already have by bringing your issues to the attention of your superiors.

2. Do Your Homework.

Research the position you are looking into. Making a career change can be a very exciting experience, but make sure you do not dive in without properly thinking it through and researching it.

3. Get Experience.

How do you know if you are even going to enjoy the job once you have it? If possible, get experience in the field you are looking into. Talk to current employees that are doing what you want to do. If you have friends who are working in the job you are thinking of applying for, get in contact with them. Find out what they like about it. By doing this, you will have a better idea of knowing if the change you are thinking about making is the right change for you.

4. Give It Time.

Before you do anything, put the idea of changing careers in the drawer for at least a few weeks to let the initial excitement die down. This will ensure that you're not making a life-changing decision on a whim or passing phase. Best of luck!

4 Keys to Staying Motivated

Staying motivated is easy when everything is going well, but it not always last! We have to renew it each and every day. That is okay. It does not make motivation a bad thing. You simply have to realize that if you want to stay motivated over the long term, it is something you will have to apply yourself to each and every day.

1. Have a goal for your life.
If you do not have a goal, then what are you moving toward? The root word of motivation is “motive.” The definition of motive is, “A reason to act.” This is the cognitive or rational side of motivation. It is your vision. You have to have a vision that is big enough to motivate you. Set out a vision and a strategy for getting there. Have a plan and work the plan.

2. Fuel your passion.
It is much easier to be motivated to do what you are passionate about. Set yourself on a course to have a consuming desire to reach your goals.

3. Work hard and get results. The harder you work, the more results you get, and the more results you get, the more it will motivate you to work harder! Start with a small achievable goal. Aim to lose a few pounds. When you have, it will motivate you to work toward losing more.

4. Surround yourself with motivational material.
Find good material that will motivate you toward where you want to go. Read books that teach you new ideas and skills. Read books that tell the stories of successful people. Buy them, read them, and get motivated! Buy great music and listen to it. It gets you going and motivates you!

5 Ways To Keep Me Away From Your Church

Christian churches should be filled with people when the doors open, but often times they are not. I have listed below practical reasons why people do not attend church.

1. The church has no website. In todays world, people live online, shop online, communicate online. Why is the church always the last to catch up? Create a website that is up to date, easy to navigate through and well designed. Yes it will take from your pocket, but it will assist people in finding your church.

2. The church is completely inactive in the community. If your church is doing nothing in your city, you are not reaching new people. When you get active in poor estates, with the homeless or in the local prisons, people start to talk about you and what you are all about. Simple acts of kindness in your community will attract people to your church.

3. Annoying Customer Service. Many churches may not have the staff to answer phone enquiries during business hours, but the least you can do is have an answering machine! It is very frustrating for a person to call to make an enquiry about service times or events and not be able to speak to anyone or leave a message. It sounds like a very simple thing to do, but you would be amazed at how many churches do not have an answering machine.

4. There is not adequate seating or parking. There is nothing more frustrating than driving around for 20 minutes looking for a parking space which makes you late into the service and then you are not be able to find an empty seat. If you need to create another service on a Sunday morning to accommodate your members, do so. If you need to get more parking attendants, do so. Make church enjoyable for people to attend.

5. Visitors are ignored. Train volunteers in the church to make sure that new comers are looked after and feel welcome. Have 1st time visitor packs with information about what goes on in your church life and where they can get involved. Contact new members either by phone, email or letter to welcome them and let them know they have been added to your mailing list.

These are all practical things that you can start to put in place to attract people to your church.

Leadership - How To Become A Pioneering Leader

Leadership - How To Become A Pioneering Leader
by Jason Osborn

Leadership is one of the greatest responsibilities that you can have on this earth. Unfortunately, most people don't really know how to lead in a way that makes them a great leader. If you are a leader, or aspire to be a leader in some area of your life, make a decision that you are going to be a leader who makes an impact, not just a leader who tells people what do. So how do you do this?

All great leaders have gone where no one else has gone. They are the ones that go off the beaten trail and make a better one. Ralph Waldo Emerson says it like this, รข€˜Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. This is the sign of a great leader.

Great leaders blaze a trail so that countless others can follow behind them. Think of great leaders such as Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., Thomas Edison, and Oprah. All of these people have become known as great leaders because they have created knew ways of thinking and doing things. They saw that the path the world was on was not one that served the world its best.

What is on the inside of you that you know is off of the beaten path that will help those around you and possibly even the entire world? As stated at the beginning, true leadership is a great responsibility because you will be forging a way the others to follow. Decide today that you will become a great leader; one that goes where there is no path and leave a trail for the betterment of the world.
